Former English footballer and Manchester United legend Gary Andrew Pallister, who visited the Capital on Tuesday, feels Indian cricketers are an example of the country’s progress.
“Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni are two of my favourite players. They are role models for all those who want to achieve something in style. I am sure the cricketers here inspire young kids and I hope the same will also happen with football in the country,” said the former defender.
The 48-year-old is hooked to the sport. “I have been following cricket for a long time now. I think it’s a wonderful sport.”
On his maiden visit to the country, Gary said there wasn’t enough time to explore much. “To be honest, it has been just one day, so I haven’t really explored much. However, the drive from the airport to the hotel gave me a brief idea about the city, the roads, the weather and everything. It was wonderful to meet all the new people here; they are so welcoming and so warm,” he said, also confessing to not having tried Indian food till the time of this interview.
“Would you believe it, I come to India from so far and I have Chinese food? But hey, before I leave the country, I will definitely try it out,” he promised.
