Just months after parting ways with girlfriend Michelle Barish, reports suggest that author Salman Rushdie has proposed to her.
The novelist had parted ways with the New York socialite in March. But he was so keen to have her back that he asked her to marry him just two days after she broke up with her latest boyfriend, billionaire Steve Tisch, in November.
Rushdie reportedly met Barish at a birthday party her boyfriend and Forrest Gump producer, billionaire Steve Tisch had thrown for her.
"Salman is besotted. He asked her within 48 hours of her break-up to marry him. He even has a ring," nypost.com quoted a source as saying.
Trouble is that aside from just having split from one boyfriend, Barish isn’t yet divorced from her husband Chris, either, as his lawyer pointed out to the Daily Mail saying, "Perhaps Michelle’s current suitor may not be aware that the divorce is not yet final. The parties are working towards a settlement."
In any case, if this marriage does work out, this would be Rushdie's fifth wedlock.
Interestingly, Rushdie was in the news recently for allegedly dumping a magazine editor on Facebook, although he later claimed that he was “mortified” by the suggestion that he shared a romance with Rose after they were spotted at a cosy dinner together and Rose tweeted about it.
Since his break up with fourth wife, Padmalakshmi, he’s been seen with Riya Sen, Hollywood actors Rosario Dawson and Olivia Wilde and model-turned-charity campaigner Topaz Page-Green.
