Two years back, Karaoke was an alien word for Delhiites. But over these couple of years, the city is getting into the groove — around 25 to 30 odd pubs and clubs around Delhi and NCR have at least one night dedicated to karaoke. “Many clubs and lounges in Delhi see these nights as fun and entertaining activity for their customers,” says Manish Gunthey, a karaoke jockey. “Places that host karaoke nights are attracting a lot of footfalls. Delhiites too, are embracing this as refreshing change from a regular dance floor,” adds Gunthey.

Further setting the mood of karaoke, three pubs — Bennigans’s, Harry’s and Ice Lounge — are organising a Karaoke Competition in the Capital. Scheduled for May 7, 11 and 13, the competition titled, Delhi Open Karoke will see amateur singers participating in the event. “The idea is to promote the culture of karaoke in Delhi. With growing popularity of such nights, we thought this is the right time to hit the chord,” says Puneet Tayal of Ice Lounge. As Delhi gears up for a karaoke competition this weekend, we bring you six places where you can plan your Karaoke night. Read on to know more.

Ice lounge
Started as an additional feature on Sundays for friends and families, the karaoke nights at Ice Lounge are now shifted to Fridays, after an increase in the number of footfalls. “Seeing the response, we thought why not have it on a day like Friday, when people are looking for an outing,” says Kanav Chadda of Ice Lounge. They play English numbers from old school rock to latest club numbers. The nights are hosted in the regular lounge bar and not inside the Ice bar.
