Sources told the New York Post that Loeb proposed after they jetted out to the Riviera Maya with a huge group of friends and family for the star’s 40th birthday celebration.

On Monday night Vergara showed off a giant diamond ring on her left hand in a photo posted on her friend Fernando Fiore’s Twitter account.

The publication had previously revealed that Vergara and Loeb, who considered a 2010 run for Florida’s senate, briefly split in May after a series of arguments about the future of their relationship, but they reconciled after a few weeks.

“Nick had been shopping for rings before they left for Mexico,” another source said.
