“If you wanna be cool, kick the butt,” says actor Neil Nitin Mukesh on World No Tobacco Day, today. Neil is among the many Bollywood stars who support the Health Ministry’s decision to issue harsher warnings, with pictures of severe diseases caused by smoking, on cigarette packets.

“The pictures on packets right now are not strong enough. If the images get gory, it will lead to a drop in tobacco consumption,” says filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar. Actor Vivek Oberoi, who recently asked one of his staff member to quit smoking, agrees. “I support the images. Cigarette is a cancer stick with a sucker at the end of it,” he says.

“These images will remind people that smoking burns a hole in your lungs,” says actor Sameera Reddy.
