Hiba Nawab: Game for web but no explicit content
Bareilly-girl and actor Hiba Nawab has a good body of work on TV. She now wants to dabble in OTT and films but the content she is getting is not something she intends to take up. The actor agrees that the content is great but she is not ready for bold characters.
“I surely want to consider films and digital content. I won’t say that content was bad, it was great but the offers I got were not within my parameter! I have set some rules for myself when I joined the industry — I won’t wear something which lets my parents down nor can I do a bold character which has nudity,” says the ‘Jijaji Chaat Parr Hain’ actor.
Hiba adds that she is preparing for web and films. “I am a person who is deeply into watching OTT content but will wait for something that I am comfortable doing. See, I am an actor, so it does not matter if it’s TV, OTT or movies. I am really working hard to make myself film or series-ready. Maybe after my current show, I would love to wait for something good on the OTT or the film front.”
Her first show was as a child artiste. “I went to Mumbai for summer vacation and out of curiosity, gave an audition. I got selected as protagonist’s daughter in the show ‘Saat Phere’. I was just 11 but after a year, I lost interest and came back to Bareilly to lead a normal life! My school friends were like ‘why have you left, and all’! So, when I was 16, I got a text from the same makers. I sent my audition and got selected for ‘Crazy Stupid Ishq’. Since then, it’s one show after another.”
She has played lead in shows like ‘Tere Sheher Main’, ‘Meri Saasu Maa’ and ‘Bhaag Bakool Bhaag’. She recently she featured in music video ‘Tanha’ with co-actor Amir Ali for singer Yasir and will be seen in another soon.
Hiba is currently doing a new version of her hit show. “I was about to do another show when the makers decided to make ‘Jijaji Chhat Parr Koii Hai’ which is in a spooky, mystery yet comedy zone. Since, I had worked in the previous edition, so I was obviously excited about the project with same team but with a new content. Moreover, for the first time, I got to play a double role which is all the more thrilling.”
The actor frequents her hometown. “Recently, I attended a marriage in Bareilly and am again going to attend one soon. A lot of people are getting married which creates pressure on me but my parents are very chilled! They are only like…don’t be in a hurry and get married. Instead, I only talk about marriage. However, that will happen only after I buy a house and make a mark in acting,” she said with a laugh.
