George Clooney may have missed out on the Oscar for Best Actor, but he made sure he was in high spirits throughout Sunday’s award ceremony. The star snuck into the venue, a sterling hip flask, inside his tuxedo pocket, from which he admittedly took swigs.

When it comes to smuggling alcohol inside places where it’s not permitted, Delhiites too have invented creative ways. Roopam Shah, 30, converted her infant daughter’s water bottle into a vodka dispenser to get past security at a five-star hotel. “Alcohol there is so expensive. The waiters either didn’t get to know or ignored it… but they were smiling when we asked for ice for the fourth time,” says Shah.



The website excitinglives.com sells a key chain which is a hip flask in disguise and can hold 60 ml of liquor discreetly. While cola bottles double as drink carriers at rock shows for student Abhinav Mendiratta , PhD student Jamaal Pandey took along a whisky-filled hip flask on a recent trip to Jim Corbett National Park.



Not all undercover operations are successful, though. IT professional Sunny Singh says, “At a five-star hotel, I stuffed miniature booze bottles in my socks, but got caught.
