Victoria’s secret angel is ‘shy’

Model-actor Monikangana Dutta, who makes her film debut with Guzaarish, defies sexy equals bold logic. The Victoria’s Secret Angel model was uncomfortable doing an intimate scene with Hrithik Roshan.

Being Victoria’s Secret Angel is no mean task. Model-turned-actor Monikangana Dutta is the newest entrant to join the ranks of Tyra Banks, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Heidi Klum and Orlando Bloom's gorgeous wife Miranda Kerr as the faces of the lingerie brand worldwide.

It is obvious that the 24-year-old will be seen in itsy bitsy innerwear once the association starts. However, this 5 feet 8 inches gorgeous lass insists being an "inherently shy person". During a shot for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish, when Dutta had to do an intimate scene with Hrithik Roshan, she was "uncomfortable." Dutta, who plays Roshan’s love interest Estella in the film, adds, "Coming from an Indian upbringing and strong family values, it’s a bit difficult to do intimate scenes in front of 150 people. However, my guru Bhansaliji made sure it was done aesthetically and Hrithik made me feel comfortable."

Dutta caught Bhansali’s attention when she was walking the ramp at a Sabyasachi Mukherjee show. Until then she had never planned to become an actor. "I only wanted to get married and have kids," the actor says earnestly.

New to the film business, she is also amused with regular reports of her various link-ups. She adds, "But I have learnt that this profession comes with its positives and negatives." The newly announced Victoria’s Secret angel says she "jumped on the couch a 100 times when she got the call about the announcement."

Dutta is excited to meet Alessandra Ambrosio and is upbeat about the fact that she will now be a “universal figure”. She adds, “I will get a chance to meet Hollywood stars. In India, I would like to walk for Sabyasachi Mukherjee and others but only as a showstopper.”

Will she be walking the ramp along with the other models this month end? “I haven’t told anyone whether I am going anywhere for Victoria’s Secret show. If it happens, I will announce it. As of now it’s not in the schedule,” she says.
