Actor Rasika Dugal’s home on Mount Mary Road, Bandra (W), overlooks the sea. A life-sized poster of her film, Qissa (2013), occupies pride of place near her closet. The petite actress, who was last seen in the film Agli Baar (2015), is dressed in a Payal Khandwala grey top over a bottle-green pair of palazzos. “I want to experiment with something quirky. I think I can carry it off,” says Dugal, who pairs the outfit with huge silver jhumkis.

Paint me blue: “I am currently going through an electric blue phase. I invest in lots of earthy colours.”
Shy of experimentation: “I admire people who experiment with their clothes, but I am a little nervous to do it. I am trying to find a stylist who can match my design sensibilities.”
No malls for me: “I hate shopping in malls; it is suffocating, and there is no personal touch to the clothes. I mostly shop at exhibitions, because there is a lot of variety on offer and from all parts of the country.”

Silver obsession: “I wouldn’t waste my money on anything apart from silver jewellery. I don’t buy clothes that don’t go with silver. When I street shop or walk around, I always pick up some quirky jewellery.”
Go-to brands: “On the rare occasions when I do visit a mall, Zara is my go-to brand. I like Indian designers as well. Payal Khandwala is one of my favourites. She uses quality fabric and solid colours. Urvashi Kaur also uses beautiful, eye-catching fabric.”
Indian touch: “I like indigenous fabric in western cuts. With western wear, I add an Indian touch to it. For instance, I enjoy pairing palazzo pants with ethnic tops. ”

Minimal look: “Kaajal (kohl) is my favourite kind of make-up, and I like to try out different kohl pencils. In college, whenever I bunked, I wouldn’t wear kohl the next day, because I tend to look unwell without it. I like MAC: it is affordable and is of good quality.”
Stylist friend: “Tisca [Chopra] is my phone-a-friend stylist. She experiments with great stuff, and she told me to my face that I need a stylist.”
Fashion faux pas: “I mismatch my hairstyle with the outfit. At an event, my hairstyle was horribly wrong, and a fashion blog wrote nasty things about it.”
