What’s common between Aishwarya Rai, Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Parineeti Chopra apart from being drop-dead gorgeous actors? They were here for the 2018 edition of HT India’s Most Stylish Awards.
The actors were just a few of the many celebrities who walked the red carpet of one of the country’s biggest style awards on Wednesday at the Yash Raj Studios in Andheri, Mumbai. Also in attendance were Shahid Kapoor with his wife Mira Rajput, Sidharth Malhotra, Hina Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Ayushmann Khurrana, Kriti Sanon, Sonakshi Sinha and many more. The awards night honoured the best and most stylish actors, business honchos, sports stars, politicians for making their respective fields more fashionable.
While Deepika won the India’s Most Stylish (female) award, Sonam took home the Global Style Icon Award. Kamal Haasan accepted the Hall of Fame award from his Sadma co-star Sridevi and Rekha gave the sweetest speech about her mother and why sarees were so close to her heart.
Here’s all that happened at the glittering ceremony:
11.35pm: Monica Dogra and Shibani Dandekar perform for the audience.
11.30pm: Rekha gets the Hall of Fame (female) award. “Style is not external, it is a feeling. Saree reminds me of my mother, when i wear Kanjeevaram I feel engulfed by love, protection and softness from my mother,” she said in her speech.
11.28pm: Sridevi gets Style Legend (Female) award. “Boney ji gives finishing touches to my looks,” she said in her speech.
11.24pm: Akshay Kumar gets the Jeep Style Badge of Honour.
11.22pm: Sridevi gives the Hall of Fame (male) award to Kamal Haasan. “I am happy to receive the award from Sridevi, it was a big nostalgia trip,” he said in his speech.
11.20pm: Sonakshi Sinha receives the Breaking the Mould (female) Award. “I don’t do what people expect me to do, be it the way I dress or the movies i do. You can call me a rebel,” she said in her speech.
11.15pm: Sonam Kapoor receives the Global Style Icon award. “My fashion superpower is laughing at myself and being myself,” she said in her speech.
11.12pm: Deepika Padukone awarded with India’s Most Stylish (female) award.
11.10pm: Aishwarya Rai gets the Timeless Style Diva (female) award.
11.04pm: Farhan Akhtar is HT Reader’s Choice Style Icon.
11.00pm: Ayushmann Khurana gets the Breaking the mould (male) award.
10.48pm: Rekha arrives on the red carpet in a bright, golden saree. She looks gorgeous as ever.
10.46pm: Sanjay Dutt gets the Style Legend (Male) award. “For last three years, I had a style - jail’s khadi Kurta pyjama, topi and tilak. But I don’t wish that for Bollywood,” he said in his speech.
10.44pm: Zeenat Aman gives away the Superstar of Style award to Amitabh Bachchan. “I have no logical reason to be here tonight, HT is being generous,” he said in his speech.
10.42pm: Parineeti Chopra gets the Style Gamechanger (female) award. She says she is especially proud of the award and looks forward to this every year as she struggled with this particular aspect and fashion police helped her really pull-up her socks.
10.40pm: Kriti Sanon gets the Most Stylish Youth Icon (female) award.
10.38pm: Varun Dhawan gets the Most Stylish Youth Icon (male) award. “HT is one paper I do love reading. They support arts, fashion and cinema and do an honest job,” he said in his speech.
10.36pm: Kamal Haasan and Sridevi have a Sadma reunion at the red carpet.
10.35pm: Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Kamal Haasan spotted at the ceremony.
10.30pm: Deepika Padukone arrives in a gorgeous red saree with Sanjay Dutt and Farhan Akhtar.
10.25: Anand L Rai and Prerna Arora honour Shahid Kapoor with India’s Most Stylish (male) award. “I’m particular about what I like to wear but have no idea what to wear. So thanks to my stylist Anisha Jain,” he said in his speech.
10.20pm: Shilpa Shetty gets the Most Stylish Author award. “Style is having to express much without saying anything,” she said in her speech.
10.15pm: Shiamak Davar’s talented troupe performs for the audience.
10.10pm: Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Kiara Advani and Kriti Sanon arrive on the red carpet in gorgeous outfits.
10.07pm: Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput get the Most Stylish Couple award. Mira says she dedicates the award to Shahid for keeping her stylish. Shahid also praised his wife and said “There is something very real, normal and confident about her.”
10.04pm: Taapsee Pannu gets the Rising Star of Style award from Shiamak Davar.
10.02pm: Sunil Chhetri wins the Most Stylish Sports Star award.
10.01pm: Sanjiv Goenka gets the Most Stylish Businessperson award.
9.57pm: Shekhar Suman honours Hina Khan with the Most Stylish TV personality (female) award.
9.55pm: Mandira Bedi honours Ronit Roy with the Most Stylish TV personality (male) award.
9.52pm: Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput arrive on the red carpet. The actor is wearing a chequered Gaurav Gupta suit while Mira is seen in a body-hugging cream-coloured dress.
9.50pm: Vir sings a song set to the tune of 2017 hit Despacito. He poked fun at award shows and Bollywood. Shiamak Davar’s dance troupe accompanied him.
9.45pm: Celebrities take their seats for the ceremony.
9.30pm: Actor and tonight’s host Vir Das kicks off the awards night!
9.27pm: Actors and sisters Shilpa and Shamita Shetty arrive on the red carpet in gorgeous dresses. Also joining them are actors Ronit Roy, Daisy Shah, Taapsee Pannu and Shaqib Saleem.
9.16pm: Television actor and Bigg Boss 11 runner-up Hina Khan arrives on the red carpet in an Alpana Neeraj outfit, looking like a gorgeous butterfly.

9.05pm: Singer Alka Yagnik and actor Sangeeta Bijlani arrive on the red carpet. Sangeeta wore a heavily-sequined sheer black dress while Alka chose a purple sari-inspired dress.

9.01pm: Actors Sonu Sood, Divya Dutta and Shekhar Suman arrive on the red carpet. Sonu turned up in a black leather jacket, Divya wore a purple flowy gown while Shekhar chose a suave grey suit for the night.
8.44pm: Actor and television host Mandira Bedi arrives on the red carpet in a daring saree-inspired grey dress. The top is all sheer with silver detailing and the bottom has a stunning thigh-high slit to show off her silver high heels and toned legs. She paired the outfit with a red clutch bag and red lips.
