Do the carefully-curated images on social media worry you that your imperfections -- stretch marks, cellulite, and scars -- might make your Instagram photos unsightly? Meet fitness blogger and new social media sensation, Amie-Jane, a 25-year-old from Buckinghamshire, UK, who has shared many side-by-side photos to remind us that yes, everyone gets stomach rolls.
At first glance, you may not know what the point is of her Instagram photos. Amie-Jane recently posted two side-by-side pictures that look pretty similar and underneath each of them it says, “Not me.” Her caption to the post reads, “Both of these pictures are over exaggerated! They are both not me!”
She goes on to say that, aside from normally wearing more clothes than this, in the photo on the left, “I have forced my hips forward to give myself hip dips and the illusion of being bigger then what I am and the other is me pushing my hips back to give myself some shape!”
People are clearly loving her honesty, as the post has already generated almost 7,000 likes. By demonstrating just how easy it is to exaggerate poses and manipulate your body on Instagram, Amie-Jane has become a social media hit, earning over 18,000 followers in the process.
‼️ME 10% vs ME 90% ‼️ Yup!!! Truth!!! Im only ever posed flat stomach, have a booty 10% of the day! 90% of the day when I'm relaxed not posing I have rolls, bloat and no butt! TRUTH! That doesn't make me less beautiful than the left picture it is just life & 99% of Instagram is the same! NOTE: love who you are most of the time not the small percentage where you've done your make up added a filter and posed! You are beautiful in every way so embrace that! .. .. .. .. #throwbackthursday #thursday #happy #love #transformation #beautiful #instafit #instagood #fitfamuk #fitspo #motivation #fitnessjourney #progress #fitnessblogger #physique #girlsthatlift #fitnessgirl #girlswhosquat #bikinifitness #strongnotskinny #gainingweightiscool #bodybuilding #squats #inspiration #fitnessmotivation #strengthfeed #myprotein #gains #like4like
She told Popsugar that she posted these because she “wants to be honest.” She doesn’t think either photo is bad, but she wants to make the point to remember that we can create the way we look by the different positions we make with our bodies. She admits that some days she looks in the mirror standing in a weird way and thinks, “Wow I look big there then I turn a different way and think I look good.” Amie-Jane said, “I catch myself in the mirror from different angles and I look different all the time!”
“People post their best selfies on social media because that’s the society we live in and that’s okay!” she continued. “But it’s also good to be honest and real now and again to show that we’re not all perfect... but we are all perfect in our own way in our own bodies... imperfectly perfect.”
‼️POSED VS RELAXED‼️ Let's not lie we are all guilty of making sure we look our best and post the best versions of ourselves on social media (me included) 🤦🏼♀️ and that is totally fine!! Even before a friend/bf/family post a picture of you on their social media you 1. Go through the picture making sure you look good. 2. Tell them which filter you love to make you look better and 3. Fight them till the death if they post something you do not like! I defiantly don't walk around tensing and with a solid six pack! When I sit I have roles & that's okay! Our bodies change throughout the day, not just from the food and drink we consume but also from how we position ourselves! so instead of a transformation of improvement this is a transformation of reality! 🙌🏼 My lower abdominal area is where my stubborn fat stays and it's so hard for me to shift it (main goal of mine) but never be afraid to be comfortable in the skin you are on. We all have flaws we have to embrace them and love ourselves for who we are ✨ it's taken me a long time to be happy in my own skin and self love and confidence doesn't happen over night but is something you can work on each day! I hope this helps some if not all who have self confidence issues! Love yourself & always remember you are worthy of everything you want in life 💗 HAPPY MONDAY xoxo . . #happy #love #loveyou #selflove #fitfam #beautiful #reality #monday #mondaymotivation @primark #instadaily #instafitness #fitfamuk #fitnessmotivation #inspiration #fitnessjourney #fitnessinspiration #fitnessmodel #fit #confidence #inspire #motivation #dedication #transformationtuesday
Keep in mind that different angles, lighting, and poses “can shape us in a way we are not 100%!!” Amie-Jane said, “Just always remember to love yourself no matter what you look like it’s how you feel that will determine you happiness in life!”
