Authorities to measure Sikandarpur drains in Gurugram to spot encroachers

Residents said a complaint sent to the CM Window has been awaiting disposal since August 2016.

Ravinder Yadav, the complainant and a resident of DLF 3, said, “I took up issue of encroachments on natural drains in Nathupur and Sikandarpur villages with the district administration in April 2016 and pursued the matter for three months. But the administration did not initiate any action. The locals have erected shops on the drain and the administration is already aware of this.”

Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar is to arrive in Gurugram on Thursday to review the action on complaints sent to the CM Window.

“The administration sent its team on August 16 to measure drains at Sikandarpur. However, since one of the officials couldn’t show up on the day, the measurement had to be postponed yet again,” Yadav said, adding that nearly 2,400 sq yd portion of the drain has been encroached.

A senior official of the district survey team said that the team is likely to measure the drain in Khasra number 352 at Sikandarpur on August 27.

“Although I am officially not allowed to speak to the media, I can confirm the survey team will visit Sikandarpur on August 27 for measuring the drain. Officials of district town planning department, land acquisition department and estate office will be part of the team,” the official said.

The survey team has requested for police cover on the day of measurement.

HS Jakhar, sub divisional officer (SDO), Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), said, “We will measure the drain on August 27. We will remove encroachments, if any. Complaints have been sent to the CM Window and the administration has taken cognisance of the matter.”
