"A case against Bhondsi police station chief Arvind Kumar Dahiya and villagers Bhagirath and Jitender has been registered under Section 302 and other sections of the IPC," said DCP (East) Maheshwar Dayal.

The action came after irate relatives of victim Bir Pal, 55, who worked as assistant sub-inspector (ASI) with the Rajasthan police, placed his body on the road and raised slogans against the police and administration.

The villagers blocked the Gurgaon-Sohna road on Wednesday morning for hours, resulting in heavy traffic jams in the area.

The blockade was lifted after police assured to take action.

The deceased's body was handed over to the family after postmortem.

Bir Pal was allegedly killed in custody on Tuesday night, when he was called to the police station over a property dispute with Bhagirath and Jitender.

The victim's brother Satender said, "We found him in an unconscious state at the police station and rushed him to the Kalyani hospital in Gurgaon, where he was declared brought dead by the doctors."
