Members of the Toll Hatao Sangharsh Samiti held a meeting and decided to intensify their campaign against toll plazas. The group has been demanding removal of the Sirhaul toll plaza and shifting of the Kherki Daula toll booth beyond the limits of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon.

Since 2008, more than 400 people have lost their lives in accidents on the Gurgaon expressway stretch between the two toll barriers. Till date, no compensation has been paid to the relatives of those victims, the Samiti said.

“Our struggle for justice would continue as it had continued till now,” said one of the members.

The organization said that Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and the National Highway Authority of India chief RP Singh had agreed that their demand was justified.

DC Yadav, vice-president of the group, alleged irregularities in the operation of the two toll collection booths.

He said that local politicians have failed to fix the problem and expressed their helplessness in the matter.
