Police investigation revealed that the accused was a close friend of the victim. The man has tendered a written apology to the girl as well as the police after he was arrested. "The victim refused to press charges against the accused after his identity was revealed," said the police.

The victim had complained that the accused was sending her obscene photographs and other disturbing information - details of the victim's daily routine, including the colour of her clothes, etc.

To encourage swift action, Gurgaon police commissioner Alok Mittal gave a cash reward to the cyber cell inspector-in-charge, Suresh Kumar, and sub-inspector Sudhir Kumar for cracking the case.
