Gurgaon: Residents protest ‘high maintenance fee, substandard service’ at Vatika’s G21
Around 150 residents gathered at main gate of the society at 10.30 in the morning and staged a peaceful protest buy holding up banners. Later, they moved nearly a kilometre to Vatika corporate office before ending their protest at 12.30pm.
Residents of G21, a residential complex in Sector 83 Gurgaon, held a peaceful protest on Sunday morning against the developer, Vatika Limited, for levying high common area maintenance charges but not providing proper services.
Around 150 residents gathered at main gate of the society at 10.30 in the morning and staged a peaceful protest buy holding up banners. Later, they moved nearly a kilometre to Vatika corporate office before ending their protest at 12.30pm.
The society G21 (G stands for Gurgaon) is part of Vatika India Next (VINXT) township developed by the Vatkia along the Northern Peripheral Road (NPR).
The residents later sent a memorandum to the developer and district administration and town planning department demanding redressal of their grievances.
Suneet Gupta, a resident, said, “We have held several rounds of discussions with Vatika officials and they promised to resolve issues, but we see no significant improvement. The approach of the builder and the maintenance service provider has been extremely casual.”
The G21 is a society comprising around 900 flats in over 12 highrises.
The project started in 2008 and the process of giving possession was delayed by about four years.
Chitra Guha, another resident, said, “I was trying to fix a geyser on a wall and it collapsed. This shows the quality of construction materials used. We pay ₹6,500 as maintenance fee every month. However, the entire society is dirty with no garbage disposal system. Even the parks are not cleaned and well maintained. If developer does not redress our grievances, we will hold another big protest”.
Gautam Bhalla, managing director Vatika Limited, did not respond to HT’s queries in the matter.
