Deepak Sharma, resident of Sector 5, died after his car was hit by a racing Volkswagen Passat, being driven by Ankit Gujjar (24), resident of Kanhai village. The impact of the collision was such that Sharma’s car broke into two. Sharma was pronounced dead on arrival at a private hospital.

A Mechanical engineering graduate from the Manav Rachna International University in Faridabad, Sharma was the youngest of three siblings.

Gujjar abandoned the vehicle and fled. The police impounded the car and are trying to ascertain Gujjar’s whereabouts.

He has been booked under Sections 304-A (rash and negligent driving) and 304-A (causing death by negligence), IPC, at the Sushant Lok police station.

Joint commissioner of police, Maheshwar Dayal, said, “We have identified the accused and are trying to trace him. Investigations are on.”

Meanwhile, grief descended on the Sharma household after the news reached his family.

“Deepak was a courteous boy. He always wished elders and was popular among children,” said Vandana Balhara, a neighbour.
