On February 23, two men were killed and one seriously injured in a shooting at Fazilpur morh in Farrukhnagar town, 25km from Gurgaon. The murders were allegedly carried out at the behest of Ved Saini, a property dealer, who had sold a plot to the victims. When the victims found that the plot was disputed they demanded the money back, which led to them being killed.

Two persons, identified as Sandeep and Ram Avtar, were shot dead while Sunil alias Sinu was critically injured. It was at the instance of Sinu, who gave his statement to the police, that the accused were identified and arrested.

The duo – Yuvraj (32), a resident of Bamdola, Jhajjar, and Rajesh (37), a resident of Badhani, Jhajjar — were arrested while trying to escape from the national capital, the police said. They will be produced in a court on Saturday and the police might seek a two-day remand of the duo.

Teenu is said to be the main shooter in the double murder and has a criminal record.

Police investigation had revealed that a 1,000 square yard plot was sold by Saini to the victims, who paid Rs 48 lakh for it. However, when the buyers found that it was a fraudulent deal, they demanded that their money be returned and managed to get Rs 12 lakh. Saini then invited the three men to his office to give them the remaining amount on February 23. They were gunned down when they reached the office.

“We arrested the accused from Uttam Nagar and now one more is left to be arrested. They were planning to flee from the city,” Sanjeev Balhara, ACP (crime), said.
