The crime branch on Thursday arrested a history-sheeter accused of involvement in at least a dozen cases of robbery, dacoity, vehicle-theft, and attempt to murder in Gurugram, Faridabad and Nuh. The police said the man has been identified by his first name as Salim, a resident of Nuh.

The police said Salim was arrested from the district court complex in Sohna on Thursday after a tip-off. Satender Rawal, in-charge, crime branch, Sohna, said he had earlier been arrested in 2014, but released on bail. “During interrogation, he confessed to being involved in many cases. He is not affiliated with an organised gang, but his criminal record dates back to at least 2012,” Rawal said.

In 2013, he and his associates had allegedly looted cash and belongings of a car driver near Kherki Daula toll plaza at gunpoint.

The police said he was produced at a district court on Wednesday and sent to police custody for a day. On Friday, he was sent to jail.
