History sheeter who shot at wife in Tattvam Villas club arrested
The police, on Thursday, arrested a 38-year-old man who had allegedly shot and injured his wife at a club in Tattvam Villas condominium on Sohna Road on April 28. The woman, who is a school teacher and was attending a beauty pageant organised by the school where she works, suffered a gunshot injury in both her legs and was hospitalised for a week.
After being discharged from the hospital, the woman moved to her parents’ house in Jharsa village, Sector 39, with her two children, police said.
The suspect, Inderjeet Singh Gehlot alias Babloo, a real estate agent, was arrested from Ram Nagar in Delhi in the wee hours of Thursday when he was going to his parents’ house at Mitraon in Delhi’s Najafgarh, police said.
During interrogation, he told the police that he had committed the crime in a fit of rage as he suspected his wife of having an extramarital affair with another teacher and was enraged when he heard that she was at a club and not in her school for the event on the day of the incident.
Badshahpur station house officer Mukesh Kumar Mann said the accused is a history-sheeter and has been to jail twice for murder, once in 1998 in Najafgarh and then in 1999 in Nangloi. He has been associated with the Krishan Pehalwan’s gang of Delhi. Gehlot had moved to Gurugram 10 years ago with his wife and children and had started his real estate business.
He was produced before the court on Thursday and taken on one-day police remand. “We are questioning from where he got the pistol and if he has used it in the past after he was out on bail,” Mann said.
Babloo has been booked for attempted murder and under relevant sections of the Arms Act.
