Office-bearers of nearly a dozen workers’ unions of companies from the auto belt of Gurgaon-Manesar-Bawal joined the Unity Day gathering here. Labour leaders reiterated their demand of dropping of charges against 62 Honda workers who were booked following the 2005 incident.

They also raised the issue of the workers of Maruti Suzuki India Limited who are in jail since labour protests at the company’s Manesar plant turned ugly last year. The workers submitted a memorandum in this regard to Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, through the Gurgaon deputy commissioner.

With cases of labour unrest rising, the Gurgaon district administration had on July 16 imposed a ban on protests on NH-8 and IMT Manesar.
