She said that her father was firmly committed to saving the Aravallis and all steps would be taken to ensure that these hills are conserved and strengthened.

Congress candidate Captain (retd) Ajay Singh Yadav’s son, Chiranjeev Rao, also campaigned in the Sadar Bazar and highlighted the problems caused by demonetisation, faulty implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and lack of support to the trading community.

“We are going to the people with our report card and what the governments in the state and Centre have done for the people. In Gurugram, the GMDA has been constituted, a bus service has been started, underpasses and flyovers have been built and issues of congestion resolved,” said Arti, at Dhanwapur in Sector 9.

More than the achievements of the last five years, she said that reviving the village ponds and water bodies, and fighting the pollution in Gurugram would be big on the agenda for the next five years.

“We have introduced the bus service and the Metro will be extended to all parts of Gurugram, which will reduce private vehicles,” she said, adding that the completion of the KMP Expressway, AIIMS in Rewari, work on Dwarka Expressway had all been made possible by this government.

Meanwhile, Gurgaon MP Singh remained busy in campaigning in his stronghold of Pataudi, where he visited a number of villages.

The Congress, on the other hand, alleged that the BJP was engaging in caste politics. “The party, which had got great support from traders, returned the favour by hitting them hard by imposing demonetisation, which not only destroyed the economy but also badly hurt traders,” said Chiranjeev, a youth Congress leader.

He assured the traders that Congress will ease the GST norms as well as the shape the economy for industries and businesses to thrive. He also said that the BJP had ensured that this city becomes the most polluted in the world.

Captain (retd) Ajay Yadav campaigned in the Badshahpur constituency and sought votes in the name of development.

Arti said that use of black money and corruption at many levels was brought to an end by the BJP government. “The decision to implement GST has already started to make a positive impact on the economy,” she said.
