A suspected drug peddler was arrested with 12.5 kg marijuana in Palam Vihar on Monday night, police said. He was sent to police custody for a day by a city court on Tuesday.

The accused, Bittu Kumar who sold directly to people, was arrested on the basis of a tip-off while he was carrying the marijuana on Monday night, said Deepak Kumar, assistant sub-inspector.

ASI Pramod Kumar of CIA, Palam Vihar unit, who was out on patrol on Old Delhi-Gurugram Road, received a tipoff about the accused. The ASI informed assistant commissioner of police Brahm Singh, who arrived at the spot and in his presence the accused was checked and found 12.5kg of marijuana from his bag.

“The accused used to purchase ganja from outside Haryana and sell it to people here. We are trying to find out from where he purchased it and if anyone else was helping him in the city,” said Kumar.
