In the wake of rising crime against women, the Haryana government has asked all district police chiefs to undertake a drive to check on suspected vehicles.

For this, the police have been asked to ensure that no public transport vehicles like buses, autos and even cabs run without the cabin lights on during the night. Besides, the police will also launch fresh drive to check on vehicles with tainted glasses.

According to the new direction, the DCPs (traffic) and the traffic inspectors will have to submit a daily report on the number of challans issued against such erring vehicles.

Gurgaon police commissioner Alok Mittal has asked the three DCPs of each district here and the DCP (traffic) to ensure that the direction is followed strictly.

The police department will enter into a more frequent communication with the city’s IT and BPO firms, which run large fleets of cabs for their employees. Policemen have been asked to keep a record of cab drivers.
