The patient, a 40-year-old female from Delhi, was admitted in a city hospital around September 10 with severe flu like symptoms of cough and fever. The test reports confirmed swine flu or H1N1 on September 14, according to a health department source.

The patient died of the disease on September 27. She was being taken care of by her brother, who also lives in Delhi.

The hospital is said to have reported the confirmed case and test results from the government lab to Gurgaon health authorities on September 15. However, Dr VK Thapar, district malaria officer, Gurgaon, said that the case has not come to their notice, but they will look into it. “We would request people to take precautions and report any flu-like symptoms,” he added.

According to health department reports, no swine flu cases have been confirmed in Haryana so far in this season.
