The accused, identified as Siraj also known as Bengali Baba, a godman (tantrik), was arrested on Wednesday. A local court has sent him to four days’ police remand.

The police have recovered around 1,000 photographs of girls and boys from his possession.

The police said Siraj claimed to have supernatural powers and would call the victims many times. Each time he would extort huge money from them, police said.

He was arrested after one Satender Yadav of Sector 46 filed a complaint, alleging that he had been cheated by Siraj.

Siraj, a resident of Pilkhuwa in UP, has been operating his racket in Sukhrali village for the past three years, said a police official.
