Women on a winning ride

A team of four women, including two from Sri Lanka, won the 7th Women's Car Rally that culminated on Saturday at Jaipur's Cambay Golf Resort.

A team of four women, including two from Sri Lanka, won the 7th Women's Car Rally that culminated on Saturday at Jaipur's Cambay Golf Resort.

The winning team comprised Gurgaon residents Sriparna and Meena Yadav (driver and navigator) and Srimoie Kuttie and Nasreen, two Sri Lankan women who live and work in the city.

Dr Batra and her husband, as her navigator, bagged the second spot. Smita Raj and Geeta Sharma were crowned the runners up.

The winning team members are first time participants in the rally.

The rally was flagged off by Gurgaon DCP (traffic) Maheshwar Dayal.

The convoy halted near Bhangad fort in Rajasthan, declared as the most haunted place in Asia by Discovery Channel.

Prizes were also given out to the most riskiest driver, best navigator, best dressed team, best decorated car, most cheerful team etc based on nominations by participants.

The winners also won the most cheerful team award. The rally also saw some prominent figures such as Sudhir Rajpal, former commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon, who turned up as navigator for his wife, Chavvi Rajpal.
