Beat this blistering heat and sign up for a unique cycling tour that starts at night and ends before dawn.
If you don’t have the time to take your bicycle out for a ride in the day or you prefer not to do so in this heat, then city group Travel Master Gogo has a rather unique proposition for you. Tonight, they are hosting Mumbai By Moonlight, a guided cycling tour that will commence at 11.30 pm. The five-hour ride will include plenty of stops along the way, at locations like Flora Fountain, Gateway Of India, Afghan Church, Banganga and Bandra Fort.
“We’ve done such rides before, but not for the public. The response has been so good that we’ve raised the number of participants from 20 to 30. Even that isn’t enough to accommodate the 125-odd entries we received,” says Raksha Shetty Martis, co-founder of Travel Master Gogo, who is planning to host many more such tours in the coming weeks.
Martis believes that the tour is a crowd-puller because during the night, roads are less crowded and the weather isn’t too difficult either. “Plus, it’ll be a full moon night. We’ll have many breaks (during the tour), so how fit you are is not a concern. There will be stops for refreshments, and maybe a visit to a bakery once the event is over at 5.30 am,” she says.
The group is also planning to introduce more routes, along which they will share a brief history of the spots visited.
