It was a day of mixed reactions on Wednesday evening at the 69’th Cannes Film Festival. Double-Palme winners at Cannes, The Dardenne brothers’ upcoming film, The Unknown Girl, was widely anticipated to be one of the movies to watch out for.

However, the film which revolves around a female medical doctor who sets out to find the identity of an unknown young woman who died after she was refused surgery, was a bit of a letdown for those present at the screening of the film.

Brillante Mendoza’s Filipino drama Ma’ Rosa too drew mixed reactions from the crowd. The film which stars Jaclyn Jose and Julio Diaz revolves around small-time drug-sellers who are detained by police to extort a payout.

However, it was all about the Viggo Mortensen starrer Captain Fantastic which drew fantastic reaction from the crowd after the screening. Directed by Matt Ross, the comedy-drama which sees Mortensen trying to fit into society after living alone for a decade, received a 10-minute standing ovation from the audience present at the festival.

Apart from films, the eight day at the festival was also talked about for American model Bella red-hot backless dress, with its hip-high split gown which left nothing to the imagination.
