“There’s something appropriate, liberating, honest and free about doing a film like this and being able to make it a rated-R picture. I’ve been lobbying and leveraging for the movie for nine years, even after leveraging everything in order to make it rated R. Unfortunately, I should probably care more about making money than I do. And don’t tell the people who pay me — because they pay me a lot of money — that I would do all this for free,” he says.

Ask him how does it feel to play an anti-hero in this series, and he says: “I enjoy playing a quintessential anti-hero. When I first read the Riddick character, I felt like I had stumbled on an antihero I hadn’t seen, to the point where there’s something therapeutic about playing the character. I know it sounds corny but I feel like I learn about myself when I play that character. Going to that dark isolated place produces some kind of vision or understanding about myself. He mirrors my own quest for identity, my eternal quest as a child,” says Diesel.

Talking about action and stunts in the film, the Fast & Furious actor says, “They are crazy. I guess one should always be thinking how to make it better,” he signs off.
