Jason Clarke and Diane Kruger will play the father and stepmother of the 16th President of the United States in The Green Blade Rises, reveals Deadline.com.

Produced by Terrence Malick, the historical drama will delve into the complicated relationship between Abraham Lincoln and his father Thomas. It will also shed light on the crucial role of Sarah Bush (Thomas Lincoln's second wife) in Abraham Lincoln's upbringing, her spirituality and her role in sowing the seeds of the future president's intellectual and political career.

AJ Edwards will shoot the film in black and white to depict the 19th century family saga. It will be the third recent movie about Lincoln after the fantastical Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Spielberg's biopic Lincoln, set to hit theaters this fall.
