Kingsman: The Secret Service star Sofia Boutella has reportedly nabbed the title role in the upcoming reboot of The Mummy franchise. Tom Cruise is being eyed to lead the film directed by Star Trek’s Alex Kurtzman.
Algerian-French actor Sofia Boutella is being courted to take on the titular role in The Mummy reboot opposite Tom Cruise.

The 33-year-old actress, who had a breakout role in Kingsman: The Secret Service will play Mummy in the new movie, said The Hollywood reporter.

Tom Cruise is in negotiations to star in the modern-day version of the film to be directed by Alex Kurtzman. The movie is being touted to be the first one in a series of interconnected monster movies as Universal hopes to build a cinematic universe out of its popular classic creature features. Other potential films revolve around the characters of Dracula, Frankenstein, the Invisible Man, the Bride of Frankenstein and vampire hunter Van Helsing.
Since Kingsman, Boutella has bagged roles in the upcoming Star Trek Beyond and The Coldest City opposite Charlize Theron and James McAvoy. The film, a reboot of the series starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, is scheduled to release on March 24, 2017.
