After his biopic The Lady, about Burma's democracy activist Aung San Suu Kyi, Luc Besson will adapt French author Tonino Benacquista's 2004 best-selling novel, with shooting starting in August.

Malavita follows an Italian-American mafia family hidden in Normandy as part of an FBI witness protection program. But instead of keeping a low profile, the clan members will be quick to indulge in their old bad habits.

This movie could even be followed by a sequel as, in 2008, Benacquista published a second book named Malavita encore (Malavita Again).
