April Reign, the American girl who started the viral trend- #OscarSoWhite, sparked yet another trend on social media after she encouraged everyone to watch the 1999 classic, The Wood, and use that to boycott the 88th Academy Awards this year. On Monday morning, Twitter saw hashtag #thewood trending through the morning.

For the uninitiated, Reign started the viral hashtag: #OscarSoWhite during the 87th Academy Awards when they were accused of ignoring films that represented the black community. Hashtag #thewood trended before this year’s Oscar awards and Reigns took to Twitter to take her anger a step further. A week earlier in a series of tweets, Reign announced that she was planning to watch the 1999 classic, starring actors Taye Diggs, Omar Epps, and Richard T Jones.
