A slight intensity earthquake of 4.5 magnitude shook Lower Assam on Sunday, the MeT office said.

The earthquake occurred at 9:35am and its epicentre was at East Garo Hills in Meghalaya.

People in the Lower Assam districts felt the jolts and were seen rushing out of their houses.

Officials from the Assam state disaster management authority said there was no report of any damage from any part of the state.
