Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday fractured his two toes while returning from a meeting, at his residence in Jaipur. He received primary treatment at SMS Hospital and returned home.

"I will continue working from home for a few days, as per doctors' advice, due to the fracture," tweets the CM.

Amid discussions on Uniform Civil Code (UCC), National Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Thursday said the Central government has given this issue UCC to the Law Commission and that it has sought proposals from various organisations. He said that the Commission has received 900 proposals. “I have no idea what is mentioned in those proposals, they did not make it public. Law Commissions, like responsible institutions, should study and work on the proposal/suggestion given to them.” Pawar said. (ANI)

Superintendent of police of Bishnupur Balram Singh in Manipur on stopping Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's convoy said, "Seeing the ground situation, we stopped him (Rahul Gandhi) from moving forward and advised him to travel to Churachandpur via helicopter. There is a possibility of a grenade attack along the highway through which VIP Rahul Gandhi is moving. Keeping his security and safety in mind, we've not allowed him." (ANI)

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who was en route to the violence-hit Churachandpur in Manipur during his two-day visit to the state, has returned to the capital city of Imphal after his convoy was stopped at Bishnupur. He was scheduled to meet displaced people and interact with civil society groups in Churachandpur and Bishnupur today.

Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday congratulated TS Singh Deo on his appointment as deputy chief minsiter. "Congress Party will be strengthened following this decision of the party's high command. In the meeting yesterday, party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi have given us tips for upcoming elections and we will work together... Its our party's decision why they (BJP) are having problem with it," Baghel was quoted as saying by ANI.

Cong leader Rahul Gandhi's convoy stopped by Manipur police at Bishnupur fearing violence on way to Churachandpur, reports PTI.

The tour's first stop will be in Ahmedabad, where Mahatma Gandhi lived and was a major epicentre of the freedom movement.

The preliminary findings also supported the conclusion that the craft was intended for spying, against China's claim that it was meant for weather monitoring. However, data was not transmitted back to China.

Rahul Gandhi reached violence Hit Manipur on Thursday on a two-day visit. He will visit relief camps and interact with civil society representatives in Imphal and Churachandpur during the stay.

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin on Thursday waded into the UCC row and said "He (PM Modi) said that Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be implemented and said that there should not be two laws in our country. He is looking to escalate religious conflicts and confuse people to win (elections). I am sure, people will teach a lesson to BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections."
