The summit began with the Finance Minister speaking on an array of topics ranging from the rupee's decline to customs and income tax policies. Addressing the weakening of the rupee, Nirmala Sitharaman added that the rupee will ‘find its own level.’
CJI Surya Kant spoke on his journey to the top office, and shared his key priorities after assuming the role of CJI, which range from tackling digital arrests to reducing pending cases.
EAM Dr S Jaishankar also took to the stage and shared why Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to India was significant, especially in today's geopolitical context. The senior leader further shared that a key aspect of this visit was to "reimagine" economic ties between New Delhi and Moscow.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta addressed the ‘pond controversy’ and the scourge of pollution in Delhi, while UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath underlined the progress made in India's largest state in the past eight years.
The past two days of the Hindustan Times Summit featured conversations with Srinivas Narayanan, CTO of B2B Applications at OpenAI; Ridham Desai, Managing Director and Chief Equity Strategist, India at Morgan Stanley; Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai; Joyeeta Gupta, distinguished professor of environment and development in the Global South at the University of Amsterdam and more.
HTLS was launched in 2003 to enhance the level of discourse on critical issues, encourage interaction among leaders in important areas, and present international-quality thought platforms aimed at solutions.

Thank you for joining in on our coverage of the 23rd edition Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2025. The summit kicked off on December 4 and wrapped up today, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi sharing his vision for India's tomorrow.
Here's a look at some of the key highlights from the final day of the summits -
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Saturday that after simplifying the Income Tax system, customs is the next big clean-up assignment. “We made sure that income tax is no longer a tiresome exercise,” she cited as an example, recalling that the I-T regime was often earlier termed “tax terrorism”.
External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar highlighted the significance of Russian president Vladimir Putin's visit to India. Speaking at HTLS, the senior BJP leader said it was important like countries like India to ensure its ties and relationships are in a good place.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday cited the building of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya as “the biggest achievement” that led to “lasting peace”. He saw this also as a stepping stone towards investment and development for UP.
During the summit, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta addressed the rampant pollution crisis in the national capital and stated that the BJP government is doing everything in its power but cannot change things overnight with a "magic wand."
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah described the year as one with turbulence, especially with regard to terror attacks and their impact on the union territory. Reiterating that not all Kashmiri Muslims are terrorists, the CM termed 2025 "a difficult one by any yardstick".
Actor, filmmaker and producer Aamir Khan also took to the stage and recalled being "unhappy" with his early work. The actor opened up about how deeply unsatisfied he was with the films he was doing at the beginning of his career and what led to the transformation of his career.
The summit was wrapped up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who hailed India's growth and called for the removal of the colonial mindset, which was a result of the country's colonial past under British rule.
