'If results are declared arbitrarily...': Akhilesh takes jibe over BJP's CM pick in Bengal
Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav attacked the BJP over West Bengal's election results, claiming they were arbitrary.
Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday took a swipe at the BJP over the West Bengal Assembly poll results, alleging that the outcome had been decided arbitrarily and suggesting that the chief minister's selection would follow suit.

In a post on X, a day after the results in which the BJP is set to form its first government in the state, Yadav said, "If the results in West Bengal have been declared arbitrarily, then, in keeping with BJP's tradition, the chief minister will also be chosen arbitrarily."
He further made a veiled remark suggesting that, in line with the discourse around women's reservation, a woman symbolic of "traditional patriarchal narratives" should be considered for the post.
Referring to socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia's views, Yadav added that such a choice had once been cited as an example in discussions on the ideal image of Indian womanhood.
Yadav's remarks came after the Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee, which he had supported, lost power in West Bengal, paving the way for the BJP to form its maiden government in the state.
