In Bandipore rape case, file status report by Friday: J&K HC to cops

The three-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Sumbal area Bandipore district on May 9. The accused has been arrested. The court also asked police to give adequate protection to the victim as well as her family.

The Jammu and Kashmir high court on Wednesday took a suo motu cognisance of the alleged rape of a three-year-old girl in Bandipore district and asked police to file a status report on the ongoing investigation even as protests continued in the Valley against the incident for the fourth consecutive day.

A division bench of Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Tashi Rabstan directed the inspector general of police (Kashmir) to submit the report by Friday.
