IT officials seize demonetised notes worth Rs 10 crore, ‘few kgs’ of jewellery

Along with the cash, “few kilograms” of gold and diamond jewellery were also seized during the raid conducted in the house and at the jewellery store.

The Income Tax officials today seized demonetised currency notes worth Rs 10 crore and a few kilograms of diamond and gold jewellery during a raid in the house and showroom of a jeweller here.

“We have seized old 500 and 1,000 rupee notes worth over Rs 10 crore”, a top official told PTI on condition of anonymity.

He said, along with the cash, “few kilograms” of gold and diamond jewellery were also seized during the raid conducted in the house and at the jewellery store.

“We cannot confirm the quantity of the jewellery seized. May be few kilograms. This is what I can say now”, the official said.

On Sunday, shredded Rs 1,000 notes thrown away in a dust bin have been seized by the officials in Tiruchirapalli.
