Maharashtra election result highlights: The ruling NDA alliance of BJP, Sena (Shinde camp) and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) has put up its best-ever performance in Maharashtra winning 235 of the 288 assembly seats and restricting the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance to a score of 49 seats.

Maharashtra election result highlights: Pulling off its best-ever show, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lead the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to a thumping victory in Maharashtra. The Mahayuti alliance secured 235 of the 288 seats in the state Assembly. The NDA, also known as the Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra, hit the majority mark in early trends, took a huge lead over its rival, MVA, shortly after counting of votes began at 8 am and retained the position.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) Opposition bloc, which comprises the Congress and the breakaway factions of Sena and NCP, led by Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar, respectively, struggled to narrow down the gap, winning just 49 seats in the state Assembly.

The ruling Mahayuti alliance comprises the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Ajit Pawar camp of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
