Minor, her mother allegedly raped in Haryana; 7 cops among 18 booked

The case was registered Wednesday against the 18 people on the basis of the girl’s complaint. Among the policemen who were booked was a head constable and a constable rank official.

The Kaithal police in Haryana have booked 18 people, including seven policemen, on the complaint of a 15-year-old girl, who alleged that she and her mother were raped by an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and held hostage at her house while others helped him.

As per the complaint lodged at the office of Kaithal superintendent of police (SP), the victim alleged that the assistant sub-inspector with the help of six other cops of Kalayat police station and 11 villagers, including sitting and former sarpanches, raped her and her mother and illegally confined them in her house.

Notably, the victim had filed a complaint of molestation against her father about two months ago.

She has now alleged that the accused had forced her to file the complaint against her father on gunpoint.

She alleged that the ASI had raped her and her mother while the villagers were sitting outside the house.

The other cops, who posted at the Kalayat police station did not act when she and her mother approached them, she charged.

Talking to the Hindustan Times , Kaithal superintendent of police (SP) Astha Modi said an FIR has been registered against seven policemen and 11 villagers, under Sections 376 D, 323, 384, 506 and 120 B of the Indian Penal Code and Section 6 of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act (PCSO) and started investigations.

The SP said a special investigation team (SIT) has been formed under Kaithal DSP Ram Kumar and Kaithal women police station in-charge to assist him in the investigation.
