No-confidence motion highlights: Congress' to RS MPs to be present in Parl

"I.N.D.I.A partners unanimously decide to move a no-confidence motion against the NDA government. The government, Home Minister and Defence Minister are saying that we're ready for the discussion in the House, but they are not making the atmosphere in the House for discussion. PM is not coming to the House and sitting every day in his chamber, meeting media and having BJP parliamentary party meetings...We have enough numbers to move a no-confidence motion against the government," said Congress MP K Suresh.

Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal says, "...Let the No Confidence Motion come, Government is ready for every situation. We do want a discussion on Manipur...Before the commencement of the session, they wanted a discussion. When we agreed, they brought up the issue of Rules. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Wednesday, “People have confidence in PM Modi and BJP. They brought a No Confidence Motion in the last term as well. People of this country taught them a lesson.”

As the Opposition moved to bring a no-confidence motion against the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday hit out at the fledgling Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance saying that calling itself I.N.D.I.A alone won't "expunge their previous actions from the collective public consciousness".

Taking to Twitter, the Defence Minister said, "The Opposition alliance has changed its name in an attempt to shed its checkered past. Renaming itself as I.N.D.I.A won’t expunge their previous actions from the collective public consciousness."

Singh added that the people will come to realise the Opposition's 'propaganda' and will vote against the alliance in the Lok Sabha elections next year.

"The citizens of our country have the wisdom to decipher this propaganda and they will resoundingly reject this refurbished entity," he added in his tweet.

The Lok Sabha will not be discussing the no-confidence motion on Wednesday. However, it will be taken up in the house and the Speaker will see if the notice has support of 50 MPs or not and will further allot time and date, as per the rule.

The no-confidence motion was filed at 9:20am on Wednesday. According to the Lok Sabha rules, any no-confidence motion notice submitted before 10 am, will be taken up on the same day.

Congress moves No-confidence motion in the Parliament.

Speaking upon Opposition bringing a no-confidence motion against Govt in Lok Sabha today, AAP MP Raghav Chadha says, “Many a time in India's Parliamentary history, critical instruments of debate, dialogue and discussion within Parliament are exercised. Regardless of the outcome of those instruments and motions, they are exercised with the sole objective of a long-duration discussion on an important issue subsequent to which the PM of India is compelled to come to Parliament and respond to the issues raised by the people and the Members of the Lok Sabha. I think these Parliamentary instruments actually strengthen India's democracy and must be exercised time again & again to pressurise the Govt to come before the Lok Sabha and answer the questions...”

Congress Lok Sabha Deputy and North east leader Gaurav Gogoi to move the no-confidence motion in the Parliament.

As the logjam in Parliament during the ongoing Monsoon session persisted for the fourth day over situation in Manipur, the day five on Wednesday might pose a challenge for the Centre amid the no-confidence motion proposed by I.N.D.I.A alliance against the government.

The Opposition's alliance — Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance-- is planning to bring a no-confidence motion against the government in the Lok Sabha today, the Leader of the Opposition in Lower House Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said.

The sources on Tuesday said that the opposition parties are weighing various options including a no-confidence motion as it would entail a reply from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and there will be a discussion on Manipur violence also.

Meanwhile, as the Parliament reconvene today at 11 am, Union Minister Jitendra Singh to make statements regarding the status of implementation of the Recommendations/ Observations contained in the 126th, and 127th Report of the Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice on Demands for Grants (2023-2024) pertaining to the Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
