DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi told ANI that her party has been opposing the ONOE bill.

"We think it is unconstitutional, against federalism and against the will of the people. We want this bill to be withdrawn but for now, they have sent it to the JPC," Karunanidhi added.

Congress MP Rajiv Shukla told ANI it is good that the Bill was sent to JPC.

"We were also demanding the same. There should be detailed discussions of the Bill in the JPC. There are many shortcomings in the Bill," he added.

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi slammed the One Nation One Election bill and said, "Anti-constitutional bill. It is against the federalism of our nation. We are opposing the Bill."

After being introduced in the Lok Sabha, the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2024 and 'The Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024 has been sent to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for detailed discussion.

Amid the tabling of the One Nation One Election bill in the Parliament, Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra minister Uday Samant on Tuesday said that this will be "good" for the country.

"It was PM Modi's commitment to implement it. We are with him," he told ANI.

As the Centre is set to table one nation, one election bill in Lok Sabha today, BJP leader Giriraj Singh urges all MPs and political parties to unite on the issue.

"The whole Parliament, including the Opposition, should unite on this because this is not something new. Elections used to happen simultaneously till 1967. Congress has made its mind to oppose anything that is brought by PM Modi. 'One Nation, One Election' is for the country, development, people want it, the whole Opposition should support the Bill," he tells reporters.
