PM Modi condoles death of Jharkhand CM's mother, says she ‘always worked for empowering tribal communities’

Rupi Soren, wife of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha founder and former chief minister late Shibu Soren, died at a private hospital in Ranchi on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday condoled the death of Rupi Soren, mother of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, and said she always worked for empowering the tribal communities.

Rupi Soren, wife of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha founder and former chief minister late Shibu Soren, died at a private hospital in Ranchi on Wednesday.

"Pained by the passing of Rupi Soren Ji. She always worked for empowering tribal communities. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with Hemant Ji, Kalpana Ji and their entire family," Modi said in a post on X.

Kalpana Murmu Soren, an MLA of Jharkhand's ruling JMM, is the wife of chief minister Hemant Soren.
