Several US Congressmen have expressed how ‘delighted’ they are about the prime minister's visit to their country. Here's who said what.

A total of 9 Indian prime ministers, including Modi and Singh, have undertaken visits to the US. Singh made maximum 8 visits, and Modi, 5, excluding the upcoming tour. Others are: Nehru and Vajpayee (4 each), Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi (3 each), Rao (2), and Desai and Gujral (1 each).

PM Modi is making his first state visit to the United States, also the first by an Indian leader since 2009, when his predecessor, Dr Manmohan Singh, visited the country in November that year. In June 1963, then President, Dr S Radhakrishnan, made the only other state visit from India to the US. 

Falguni Shah, Grammy-winning Indian-American singer, says the Indian diaspora is ‘beyond excited and overjoyed’ to welcome the PM, who is making his first official state visit to the United States.

While PM Modi has left for his maiden state visit to the United States, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has completed his engagements in the country, and is returning home tonight, according to ANI.

To welcome the prime minister, the Indian diaspora in New Jersey have gathered at the Ved Mandir, the area's oldest temple, to prepare a 20-feet-long floral garland for Modi.
