PM Modi visit Highlights: PM concludes US State visit, departs for Egypt

PM Narendra Modi met top CEOs and Chairmen from the US and India at the White House. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, NASA astronaut Sunita Williams, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra, Reliance Industries Chairman & MD Mukesh Ambani, Zerodha & True Beacon Co-Founder Nikhil Kamath and several others present.

Tech Handshake Event set to begin at White House shortly.

PM Modi will meet CEOs of several leading US companies. This will be followed by PM Modi's address to the Indian diaspora at the Ronald Reagan Centre

Following his White House event, PM Modi will attend a State Department luncheon with US vice president Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

On Day 3 of his US state visit, PM Modi is scheduled to attend the India-US hi-tech handshake event at the White House.

PM Modi expressed gratitude to US Representative Jimmy Panetta for welcoming him to the House of Representatives. "Thank you @RepJimmyPanetta. Indeed, the close ties between India and the USA not only enrich our societies but also hold the potential for impactful global cooperation. Let's continue to strengthen these linkages," PM Modi tweeted.

“We are incredibly excited to see the advancement of efforts under the critical and emerging technology initiatives. The defence industrial collaboration roadmap is an opportunity for us to co-develop and co-produce aircrafts, helicopters and systems in India under that initiative,” Lockheed Martin India's vice president William Blair said on PM Modi’s meeting with US President Joe Biden.

"I think it's an extraordinarily successful visit. The main feature which I see from the visit is the boldness and ambition in the kind of decisions that have been taken between PM Narendra Modi & President Joe Biden. They've reviewed the whole geopolitical situation. It is a very substantive visit and all the outcomes actually coincide and reinforce our own plans for our own development and for our own security. The United States is ready to help India in the achievement of our national goals, whether these goals are economic or whether these goals are from a security point of view," Pankaj Saran former Dy National Security Advisor told ANI.

Joe Biden and PM Modi urged Pakistan to make sure that its territory is not used to launch extremist attacks, the White House said.

"They strongly condemned cross-border terrorism, the use of terrorist proxies and called on Pakistan to take immediate action to ensure that no territory under its control is used for launching terrorist attacks," the White House said.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said a narrative is being built that there is no freedom of speech in the country, asserting that there is no democracy more vibrant than India.

“Tell me in which country you can speak so freely? It is a functional democracy. Can you think of a more vibrant democracy than India?," he said. 

Foreign secretary Vinay Kwatra said that technology cooperation featured prominently in the discussion between India and the US, describing it as one of the most substantive outcomes of PM Modi's state visit. 

Union minister Piyush Goyal said that India and US will bilaterally resolve six disputes at the WTO as PM Modi's relationship with president Joe Biden played an important role in this. Both leaders have created a win-win situation, he said. 

The big-ticket announcements by players including Micron, Applied Materials, and Lam Research during PM Modi's US visit will create an estimated 80,000 jobs, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said.

"These three investment decisions will create a minimum of 80,000 jobs directly in my estimate and indirectly the numbers could be much higher. More than that it will be a catalyst to the overall electronics and semiconductor ecosystem," Rajeev Chandrasekhar said.

The BJP hailed PM Modi's US tour as "unprecedented" and said several diplomatic and strategic decisions taken during the visit will help build a "new India" with economic progress.

BJP leader and Union minister Smriti Irani said, “Several diplomatic and strategic decisions were taken during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the US which will help build a new India with the resolve of Atmanirbhar Bharat, and provide opportunities of economic progress to Indians.”

PM Modi thanked United States vice president Kamala Harris for welcoming him. Taking to his Twitter handle, he said that he is 'equally enthusiastic about elevating our cooperation in futuristic sectors.'

"Thank you, @VP @KamalaHarris. Our partnership indeed holds immense potential for this century. I am equally enthusiastic about elevating our cooperation in futuristic sectors," PM Modi tweeted.

During his speech at the state dinner held at the White House, PM Modi said, "Indian Americans have come a long way in the US and have always found a respectful place in America's Melting Pot. Indian Americans have played a significant role in further strengthening the inclusive society and economy of the US."

Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi's fourth and final day of the state visit to the United States will begin with discussions with renowned CEOs during which various topics including artificial intelligence (AI) would be discussed. Later in the day, vice-president Kamala Harris and secretary of state Antony Blinken will jointly host a state luncheon in honour of the prime minister.
