Uttarakhand: 4 arrested after two groups clash, open fire in Dehradun
Four people were arrested after two groups of youths clashed and opened fire in Dehradun’s Patel Nagar, leaving one person injured, police said.
Four people were arrested after two groups of youths allegedly clashed and opened fire in Uttarakhand’s Patel Nagar on Thursday, leaving one person injured, police said.

Police received information that youths travelling in a Swift car had opened fire in the Patel Nagar area, and the injured man, identified as Sahil, was taken to Mahant Indiresh Hospital by his associates.
A preliminary investigation, including examination of CCTV footage and questioning of eyewitnesses, revealed that the two groups had an old dispute. One group allegedly attacked members of the other with sticks and damaged their vehicle before the second group opened fire at them at two locations, police said.

“An investigation, including examination of CCTV footage and questioning of eyewitnesses, revealed that the two groups had an old dispute. One group comprising Sujal, Anshul, Aditya, Aryan, Vishal, Daksh, Sahil and others attacked Gurmeet, Raman, Aman and Rohit with sticks and damaged their vehicle. Then, Gurmeet and his associates opened fire at the first group near ITS College. When the group chased them, the occupants of the car allegedly fired again near St Jude’s Chowk on Shimla Bypass Road, hitting Sahil,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pramendra Dobhal said.
“The firing and violence in a public place caused panic and posed a threat to commuters,” he added.
An FIR was registered against 11 people under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police identified the arrestees as Sujal Pal (21) from Shamli, Aditya Malik (23) from Patel Nagar, Anshul (23) from Haridwar and Aryan (22) from Saharanpur. Police said raids were underway to arrest the remaining accused.
