Ahead of the match here, there had been speculation about Rohit producing something special on this batsman-friendly Holkar Stadium pitch which has witnessed two ODI double centuries, which incidentally were the first doubles in ODIs. (SCORECARD)

The stand-in India skipper was in brilliant formas India raced to 100 in 8.4 overs.

There was no stopping after that as Asela Gunaratne bore the brunt of his onslaught, going for 20 runs in an over.

KL Rahul gave him good company and quietly moved into 40s, the two having put 117 runs in the first 10 overs. Rohit went on the charge after going past 100, hammering Thisara Perera for four consecutive sixes. Rohit then continued his big-hitting spree but he fell for 118 off 43 balls. A total of 108 runs came only in boundaries and it summed up his class.
