The accident occurred on Monday in Sinan County, Guizhou Province, when a bus carrying 49 passengers and heading for Jiangmen City in South China's Guangdong province, overturned and fell off a 29-meter-deep slope.

Thirty-six people, including the bus driver were injured in the accident, an official with the provincial bureau of work safety, said.

Most of the passengers taking the bus were migrant workers who were on their way to seek jobs in Guangdong, one of the country's economic powerhouses.

The highway accident was caused by miscalculation of the bus driver, local officials cited preliminary investigation as saying.
